Master of Education [M.Ed] (Mathematics)
Tuition Fees
Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB) does not charge tuition fees. The students must only pay a semester contribution fee of about $401 per semester. This fee includes free use of public transport in North-Rhine Westphalia, and reduced prices for food and beverages in the cafeteria (Mensa) and canteens.
This degree program is unique because it offers a balanced combination of subject didactics and specialist science as well as theory and practical relevance and thus optimally prepares for the teaching profession or didactic research.
This course offers a specialization in the following areas:

- Stochastics and Statistics
- Differential Geometry / Dynamic Systems
- Complex analysis
- numerical Mathematics
- Algebra and topology
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- Students who apply for the Master of Education program must have a Bachelor (or comparable) degree in either:
- Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics (direct access)
- Bachelor of Science in Mathematics
- Graduates of natural science bachelor's programs (with additional requirements, if applicable)
- The completion of at least one month's aptitude and orientation internship at school as well as a one-month professional internship
- Studies in educational sciences to the extent of 6 CP, in which elements about basic educational, developmental, and socialization theoretical requirements are included
- Studies in "German for schoolchildren with Immigration history ”or comparable studies in Scope of 6 CP
- Compulsory advice in both subjects and in educational sciences according to the subject-specific Provisions.
