Most exciting course : Space Engineering

I didn't go to any consultant. In fact, you don't really need any external help other than students who have studied previously. Connect with them on LinkedIn or other sites and ask them about their experience through the process. Initially, you need to present a strong SOP (Statement of purpose) highlighting your interest and passion for the field. You need one year of work/intern experience. Having 1-2 months short wouldn't make a difference. You need a decent IELTS score, above 6-6.5 should do. And then after the first round is cleared you will have an Interview round. This round is easy, they just ask more questions about your previous work and experience. And it follows up with what you expect from the course or what your future plans are.

Course Curriculum :

There are 120 credits in the program. Out of which 30 are for your thesis. This course is definitely wonderful for those who have no knowledge of space engineering. It is not extremely intensive which is a plus. This doesn't mean it is easy. It is hectic and requires smart planning. There are several opportunities you get here to perform well and learn more and more things. Faculty to student ratio is high, in my course more than 2:1. The faculty is quite welcoming. As they have just turned to the hybrid model of teaching,( offline and online) for a while until covid subsides, it is a new change for teachers and they are taking time to get used to it. Some teachers are not very great but that outnumbers the good ones. In all the course planning and structure are what make the course attractive. The faculty is not the best in teaching but really welcoming and kind. Students get immense flexibility.

Placement :

Placements are not provided but the faculty does send a lot of opportunities our way. One can keep applying in Germany or outside Germany. Considering it is a niche field, and opening up of the space sector, finding a job abroad in this field would definitely not be hard. But yes, one needs to always study the market as according to the market's demands the scope of employment changes. As a foreigner, one can't work for top defence-oriented companies except in your own country. The scope of employment at this university is high and this is one of the main reasons I chose this university.

Internship :

I have applied for a research assistant job. The idea is that this job starts in the next semester and not the one you apply for. My job has not started yet. To find internships in Berlin you can directly apply on LinkedIn or your company website. For on-campus jobs, keep checking the announcements on your ISIS page and university board. Keep talking to your professors about it.

Fees :

The fee payment was through a bank transfer. Other than a tuition fee you would also need to pay a small semester fee. Other expenses are not much and can be considered quite negligible. I think the program is quite affordable as compared to all other space engineering programs in the world. I got an education loan to pay my finances. The tuition fee is not a small amount.

Scholarship :

I haven't applied for any scholarship or stipend. For any scholarship you need min B1 level of knowledge which i didn:t have .

Faculty :

Campus Life :

I think the campus life at the university is great. They have a sports program providing sports activities at a very cheap rate. They have canteens for everyone that provided food at a very cheap rate even to vegan students. I have found many of my countrymen, Indians on campus and in class. However, the university is more diverse than my class. TU Berlin has opportunities for everyone in every field. As a student of TU Berlin, you can study a course at any university in Germany and get credits for that. The library is vast with several computers one can lend up to 50 books at a time. There are several societies one can be part of. One can join Facebook and WhatsApp groups and connect with more people. There are many conferences and seminars happening simultaneously where one can interact and meet people.

Hostel :

It is very difficult to find accommodation in Berlin. One should apply 6 months in advance. There are student Dorms but they are very hard to find. It is better to book one from India from known sites only. I came to Berlin, lived in a hotel for a few days and then found permanent accommodation. It takes 1-2 months to see that on average one is already in Berlin.

Other Applied Colleges

Technical University of Denmark | Space Systems Engineering

It is a relatively new course there. It is more expensive and that university is research based.

Leicester | Space engineering

Leicester has good connections with industry but the course is just of 1 year.
