SS
7.0 /5

The University of Freiburg is considered among the best universities in Germany. Every year it ranks under 100 in Biology and many other disciplines. Freiburg is a vibrant city and has a diverse student culture. Research opportunity in Germany brings students to a higher category for a career after education.

Course Curriculum :

The course is really flexible and there are many options. The German language is also provided for free to students. For Ph.D. students, there are many courses to improve research technical skills, a career in industry, ethical research practice, and scientific writing.

Exams :

My IELTS score is 7.0 overall, DAAD scholarship, and letter of Acceptance from a supervisor at the University of Freiburg.

Placement :

After Ph.D., students can do a postdoc, medical writing, medical science liaison, work as researchers in industry, marketing, and many more. Placement for Ph.D. students is not controlled by University because Ph.D. students can apply to various fields and the length of study is not fixed. But many Ph.D. students are successfully placed with little effort.

Internship :

No, I didn't get the internship.

Events :

There are many clubs in Freiburg. Near student housing, special student clubs are also an option. University has its own gym and sports arenas, Every student is allowed to register, practice, and participate. There are many student-organized parties on campus. The city itself has many social events and concerts every season.

Fees :

There is no tuition fee. there is a 165 euros Semester fee and this contribution allows you to get many student discounts and travel benefits in Freiburg and Germany. There is an Internation student fee of 1500 Euros but only in this state of Baden Wurttemburg.

Scholarship :

DAAD Ph.D. scholarship (2016- till today) - amount - 1200 Euros/month + insurance + additional benefits. The application has to be submitted to the DAAD office in New Delhi. The application consists of- Application form, a Research proposal (written with the help of a future Supervisor in Germany), a Master's and Bachelor's degree and transcripts, a CV, a Letter of Acceptance by a German University Professor or Supervisor, Certificates of Achievements, and Reference letters. Later all the documents are reviewed by DAAD in Germany and a list of candidates is made. Candidates are invited for an interview. A few weeks after the interview the results are declared. Application has to be submitted in Sep-Oct, and the selection is made by next year till March.

Faculty :

Faculty to student ratio is very high. The faculty is really supportive and is ready to mentor students for a better future. Faculty can be easily approached via email or prior appointments. There is an International office at every University in Germany for assisting International students and problems.

Hostel :

Student housing is really affordable. It can be as low as 200 euros/month. Students can also live in another part of the city in shared housing which ranges from expensive to cheap. shared housing near the city center can be a minimum of 500 euros/month and away from the city can be very cheap. Freiburg and the whole of Germany have a very good transport system of trams, trains, buses, underground trains, and air travel. The basic cost of living for a student is 750-850 Euros/month.
