The main campus is located at S. Franklin, St. Mount Pleasant, Michighan. The college of medicine has two campuses at Mount Pleasant and Saginaw.

Library

The University Library and the Clarke Historical Library are both located in the Park Library building on CMU's main campus in Mount Pleasant. Renovated in 2002, the magnificent building houses physical collections including books, periodicals, government documents, microforms, maps and videos. Users may access the Libraries’ online collections on- or off-campus, including at one of 300+ public computers in the Park Library.


The Halle Library is 270,000 square feet and contains close to a million volumes split between a browsing level and an automated retrieval system (ARC).


Campus Life

With students from all over the country, world and all walks of life, the Central Michigan community is diverse, tight-knit and active. Students can be involved in different activities like catching one of the university’s 15 Division 1AA athletic teams in competition. Students can join one of 300 student organizations—or start a new one. Students can Play intramural sports, join a Greek-lettered organization or participate in the nationally-ranked Alternative Break program offered through the Mary Ellen Brandell Volunteer Center. Take advantage of the university’s connection with the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe by experiencing the annual Celebrating Life Pow wow. Check out a music or theatrical performance or find fun and surprises in downtown Mt. Pleasant.


Just like many large universities EMU has many student oriented facilities outside the classroom. The university has plays, musicals, student organizations, and various social activities for students. On-campus hangouts include the Student Center, The Rec/IM, Halle Library, and dining facilities like the Eastern Eateries and the Commons (DC1). EMU's office of Campus Life provides many co-curricular opportunities for both resident students and commuter students which include Friday night movies, Laugh Lounge and Sky Lounge. In addition to activities on campus, EMU's campus life office also organizes occasional "Eastern Excursions" to cities such as Detroit, Cleveland, and Chicago. Off-campus hangouts include Depot Town, Frog Island, Riverside Park, downtown Ann Arbor and The Ugly Mug coffee shop. Student Organizations at Eastern are housed under Campus Life. Most academic departments on campus have at least one student organization for students who are interested in that subject area. Eastern Michigan University has 14 residence halls. Eastern Michigan athletic teams have been successful on a national level, winning three NCAA Division II national championships and 13 NAIA Division I national championships in five different sports (baseball, men's cross country, men's swimming and diving, men's indoor track and field, and men's outdoor track and field).

Ypsilanti (pronounced IP-si-lan-tee) and commonly shortened to Ypsi, is best known as the home of Eastern Michigan University and its 20,000 students. Ypsi also hosts Washtenaw Community College. Residents have access to three hospitals and a large number of independent restaurants, while Willow Run Airport serves corporate and general aviation air traffic. A robust nightlife is in place, and classical music concerts are well attended whenever the Ypsilanti Symphony Orchestra performs.
