XLRI FPM Admission 2024: Fees, Eligibility, Selection, Dates, Stipend

XLRI FPM program is a full-time doctorate course, equivalent to a PhD in Management. The program is four years long and students can choose from eight specializations. Admission to XLRI FPM is based on XAT.

• The FPM program is of 4 years but the candidates can complete the course in a maximum of 7-year duration.
• The eight available specializations for the Ph.D. program of XLRI include Economics, Finance, Human Resource Management, Information Systems, Marketing, Organizational Behaviour, Production, Operations, and Decision Sciences, and Strategic Management.
• The minimum requirement for the doctoral program at XLRI is a master's degree with 55% marks in a relevant topic.
• Candidates with a valid score of UGC-JRF/NET, GRE, GMAT, GATE or a PGP degree from a reputed B-school are exempted from the XAT exam.

XLRI FPM Eligibility Criteria

A successful applicant of XLRI FPM must satisfy one of the below eligibility conditions:

A Master's degree or equivalent in any topic with at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST candidates). Marks secured in the Bachelor's degree must also be 60% or greater (50% for SC/ ST candidates).

OR

An integrated Master's degree of 4 or 5 years in any discipline with at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ ST candidates). 

OR

A BE/ B.Tech degree with at least 60% marks (50% for ST/ SC candidates), with atleast 2 years of releavant work experience.

OR

Any professional qualifications such as CA, ICWA, or CS with 55% marks.

All students need to appear and qualify in the XAT 2022 examination to be eligible for the program. However, students with UGC JRF/NET, GMAT, GRE, or GATE scores will be eligible to apply directly.

Also, students who have completed their PGP from XLRI, Any IIMs, XIM, FMS, MDI, IRMA, IITs, TIFR, TISS, ISI, SP Jain, and equivalent institutions with CQPI of 6.00/800 or equivalent may be allowed to be exempt from XAT.

Note: 5% relaxation in the minimum marks requirement is applicable for the SC and ST students.

XLRI FPM Admission Criteria

Admission to the PhD program of XLRI is based on the performance of the candidate in the Xavier Admission Test (XAT). The examination is organized annually by the institution. The qualified candidates of XAT are further called for PI during the month of March/April at XLRI Jamshedpur campus. The final selection of the candidates are based on the basic academic qualifications, performance in the tests, performance in the persoanl interview, and relevant work experience. 

The candidates will be exempted from taking the XAT exam if they have any one of the following:

• The candidates have appeared for exams like UGC-JRF/ NET/ GMAT/ GRE/ GATE, conducted in the last 2 years. 
• The candidates should have a 2 year full-time PGDM/ MBA from XLRI or any of the IIMs, FMS Delhi, MDI Guragon, XIM Bhubneshwar, IRMA, SP Jain, School of Management of an IIT, TISS or ISI with CQPI of at least 6.0 on a acale of 8.0.

XLRI FPM Course Details

• The XLRI Ph.D. program offers eight specializations. These are Economics, Finance, Human Resource Management, Information Systems, Marketing, Organizational Behaviour; Production, Operations & Decision Sciences; Strategic Management.
• The FPM program involves two years of coursework and two years of thesis work. The thesis work period can be expanded up to four years.
• The students also have to go through a comprehensive examination following the end of their coursework.
• The students must take core courses of PGP, 2 FPM compulsory courses in the first year.
• In the second year, 10 courses must be taken by the student. Among them, 4 must be PGP electives, 4 must be doctoral courses and 2 must be advanced courses.
• Students are also required to take a non-classroom seminar course in the second year of study.

Upon successful completion of the coursework, students must go through a comprehensive examination. Only the successful candidates in the said examination will be allowed to continue to the thesis part of the FPM curriculum.

XLRI FPM Fees Structure

The institute offers a complete tuition fee waiver for all the students. The students are awarded a fellowship of 45,000 per month during their initial two years and 50,000 per month for the next two years. The stipend will be offered for a maximum of 4 years. The students are also entitled to more grants for Teaching Assistance, Conference expenses, Contingency, and Data collection.
