- Accounting is about more than understanding and interpreting the financial information of an organization. A background in accounting will give the management skills students need to succeed in today’s complex business environment. It can lead students into the fields of finance, strategy, taxation, audit, and many others. The four main fields of study in accounting are: Financial accounting – providing information to external party users; Managerial accounting –providing information to managers to making successful operating decisions; Auditing – attesting to the fairness of information prepared by the company and Taxation.
- The Major in Accounting gives students a solid background in all four areas of accounting and can be used as preparation to enter a graduate Professional Education Program for students who want to pursue a CPA (Chartered Professional Accounting) designation.
