Study Pre-Professional Degrees at Luther College

R
4.8 /10

Close to home So I could keep my job and drive home every weekend. It also has a great pre-professional program for pre-med, pre-dentistry, and pre-pharmacy that puts the kids together and they make friends and have labs and classes together. It brought me my closest friends and they are people who think like me.

Course Curriculum :

Very good and structured course curriculum.

Exams :

Required 60% to get into the program. I am not sure how many applied but it wasn't competitive so there was no essay or application requirement. I applied on the spot and was accepted on the spot. I had to provide my grade 12 grades in an official transcript when I graduated. I joined Luther College because they had an amazing pre-professional program that lets you be with other people like you.

Placement :

I believe they have lots of job placements and opportunities. I'm assuming there are lots of students working And I know a lot of my friends got paid quite well over the summer. I also know that a lot of jobs are helpful for practical skills. Like working with an athletic therapist

Internship :

I have never looked into it but you can get a co-op program. I know you must apply and they will place you but I don't know what criteria are required. They send out lots of emails but I don't know anyone who's done one. I find that internships for science aren't readily available though.

Events :

Welcome week, orange shirt day.

Fees :

Tuition for 1 semester and 5 classes was $4200. I got a $3000 entrance scholarship in the first year for having an average above 95% but don't have any this year. Not sure what scholarships are available to international students. There are lots of scholarships available through various federated colleges (Luther, campion, etc)

Scholarship :

I got $3000 entrance, $1500 from my school, and an $8000 residence scholarship.

Examination Structure :

The structure is Decent. I find that a lot of science courses have the final weighted too much.

Faculty :

I'm fairly sure most of them have a Ph.D. and go by Dr degree.

Hostel :

I lived on campus first year at Luther College and it was okay. The rooms are small and the food is awful. I know the Kisik buildings are better but Wakpa is too many people in one room. I live off-campus this year with 2 roommates and it's far better.
