I chose this university mainly due to the social life associated with the school and the student experience available. I also wanted to be able to live on campus with many other students, and considering Western's on-campus facilities this was one of the best options.
Course Curriculum :
It's pretty great, I really enjoy the courses offered, the professors and the wide range of topics available. The arts and humanities department seems very flexible and willing to listen to feedback from students.
Events :
The schools celebrations tend to be the only homecoming officially. The unofficial events celebrated by students are FOCO, St. Patrick's day, bunny hop and 12 bars. As well as other events like being done exams or a certain course
Fees :
The fee structure is 2 instalments if payments for tuition a year. This also includes other charges such as a dental and health plan, student bus pass and other fees that are automatically added.
Scholarship :
I have gotten two entrance scholarships from Western and my faculty for my high school graduating grades. Other than that the only financial aid I have received is OSAP.
Examination Structure :
The exam structure for English courses tend to be only written answers, usually essay questions and passage analysis. I feel like this is a perfect way to test students on their knowledge of the course and materials.
Faculty :
The English faculty is in my eyes a great faculty. Although the change in course requirements was difficult to adapt.
Hostel :
I liked most of how my residence operated, other than rules for bringing in people, which I understood for most parts, but could sometimes be needlessly restrictive or complicated, I think there could have potentially been better systems in place for this, maybe extending hours on certain days.
