RANJEET AVIS CHERUVATHOOR Review at Cape Breton University [CBU], Sydney | Collegedunia

Cape Breton diaries

I completed a Doctor of Pharmacy from India and I aspired of pursuing higher studies in Canada. My best friend in the college, after her studies, flew to Canada,to one of the most beautiful campuses in the world for public health. My admission procedures was a big story, I got placed within 1 month of after completion of my Indian education( to the best of my knowledge, no one ever had a chance to get enrolled in a prestigious institution within a short span. My friend helped me with all the procedures at the university.

Exams :

I prepared for the International English Language Testing System Examination on my own and youtube without extra coaching. The minimum overall score required was 6.0, and I managed to get an overall score of 6.5 and my scores were like Reading: 7.0, Speaking 7.0, Listening 6.5 and Writing 6.0.

Internship :

My university offers a plethora of on-campus jobs and internships for the students. We need to regularly watch out for the campus placements and jobs on the university website and notice boards in and around the campus. On-campus we can work for as many hours and besides we can also work for off-campus jobs. These on-campus hours are not counted in the 20 hours.

Fees :

My tuition fee is 17070 Canadian dollars per year. I am availing an education loan from my country, the bank is Canara bank. The students who pass with 75 % overall grades are awarded an entry-level scholarship of $500. Furthermore, the students who are claiming the top 3 academic positions can also avail for scholarships.

Faculty :

95%of the professors are people claiming a Ph.D. degree. They are a group of well organized and systematic teaching staff. They use the electronic and the conventional methods for teaching and also provide backup support for students; who find it difficult to cope up.

Hostel :

I lived on the off-campus, 7 kilometers away from the campus along with my bestie and other native friends. The house was supported with Wifi and oil burner for heat supply. It was a home having a 1minute walk from the bus stop.
