Anika Review at Memorial University Of Newfoundland [MUN], St. John's | Collegedunia

Anika's review

A
5.5 /10

The price of tuition in this college was significantly less than any others in my area and it had the best business school in Atlantic Canada which was very important to me. It was close to home and I also heard great things about the social aspects.

Course Curriculum :

I think that some of the courses I have taken at Mun have been pointless. People just copying each other and going to tutorials to get an A. I know most people who have taken these courses have agreed with me that they have not taken much away from them and have not used the information.

Exams :

In high school, I took an exam that got me credit for the first calculus course in MUN. Since I have gotten to MUN I have not taken any others.

Placement :

They are great, with the job I have now on my internship I can expect 2 more work terms in this same spot and also to be offered a job upon graduation. When looking for this internship I was offered 6 other jobs as well.

Internship :

Yes, I am on a paid internship right now and love the experience. It's teaching me more particle application of what I am learning in school as well as letting me know if this is the right career path for me.

Events :

There are too many events celebrated in my college to list them all but we have winter carnival that brings the campus together to raise money for charity and participate in fund events raising awareness of different causes and cultures.

Fees :

There have been recent increase by double if work term fees for students on a work term, which doesn't seem fair as we are not on campus or using the facilities or resources there, therefore we should not be expected to pay fees for this, especially so much.

Scholarship :

Yes, I had an entry scholarship in which I received from simply finishing high school with an overall average of above 90%. I also receive an award for my volunteer work in high school. I have never received financial aid.

Examination Structure :

The exam structure could use some work. In the past, I have had 3 exams in 26 hours which is not within then 24-hour limit but is still a lot to have to study for at once and I do not think this should be allowed.

Faculty :

I think some faculty are great and care about their students.

Hostel :

I loved living in residence. The food there was not good and if I had any recommendations it would be to change the company that is operating the dining hall. But the building I lived in was very clean, close to everything, and I made so many great friends.
