The PGWP permits suitable international graduates to work anywhere in Canada for at most 3 years, relying on the duration of their respective study program. With Canadian education and work expertise, students in Canada can easily acquire any economic-class immigration program. PGWP can neither be extended nor be renewed. Also, it can only be secured once in a lifetime.

Among all the PGWP holders during this period, approximately three-quarters attained permanent residency within 5 years from when their PGWP was issued.

As per the study, this stretch in numbers could possibly be the result of Canadian work expertise which increases the chances of PGWP holders to get selected as immigrants. Moreover, PGWP holders would be more keen to apply for permanent residency than someone who did not apply for PGWP.
