Phoebe Henderson Review at Australian National University Test1 [ANU], Canberra | Collegedunia

Australian National University, a perspective

PH
8.8 /10

It was ranked well and I wanted to move away. This uni has a good structure of degrees, allowing me to pick up another degree at the same time if I wanted. It had good living arrangements for me as well.

Course Curriculum :

Heavily dependent on the high school you went to, definitely favored the more expensive schools. I went to a private high school so has the support and resources to do well. We started practicing about a year before the test.

Exams :

I am from Queensland where we take the OP test. Which is one standardized test in September to moderate all schools against each other.

Placement :

I think they are very good. We are always emailed with opportunities. I personally haven't had to go for a job yet, so don?t have any personal experience but I know that when I do there will be a lot available.

Internship :

Yes. There are a number of internships that are advised through their website. We get a weekly email with the opportunities available. The business faculty is very large but I think they cater to all areas (ie accounting and economics).

Events :

There are a lot of events advertised. I haven't been to many but there are always a lot of events at the start of the semester to get to know people. There is also a help desk for the first part of the term, to assist with classes and structure.

Fees :

My degree is paid for through a HECS lay that I pay back when I start earning enough. Other than that I pay a $150 service and amenities fee at the start of each semester.

Scholarship :

No. My degree is paid on HECS and my accommodation is paid by my parents. I have a part-time job but I use this money for myself.

Examination Structure :

The exam structure depends on each individual course I take. Most exams have a mid-semester and final exam with a few assignments in between. We get a 3-week exam block and exams are any time within that. I think exams are very fair and there?s a number of help sessions before exams.

Faculty :

Very good. I think they communicate well and always have a variety of internships/projects available. I feel as though they actually care about what I do.

Hostel :

I live at on-campus accommodation. There are about 300 people who lived there. I don't share a room and all meals are provided. This is paid for by my parents (very kindly). Living on campus is highly convenient and I am very grateful for the opportunity.
