What students say about Vellore Institute of Technology - [VIT University]

Likes

  • I like the coding culture that is in my college is excellent.
  • Placement oppurtunity given by vit is very good where every student is guarenteed to get atleast one job in hand when leaving the campus.
  • The college has a very good placement record, so we go out with flying colors
  • If we came to studies part it is very good opportunity to utilize in vit.
  • The placement training and orientation is very good and helps us get jobs.

Dislike

  • The research carried out by teachers is on very boring topics, something that doesnt inspire me at least.
  • In the final semester, students usually head out of VIT for internships for their final projects.
  • Our college always tries to show off their college placement records. They only show the icing on the cake, but the reality is often disappointing.
  • Loan facilities are bad, with an interest rate of 10 percent. If you have a scholarship and a CGPA of more than 8, you will receive 10,000 rupees. It is offered to students from poor backgrounds. The loan facilities provided by VIT universities are bad.
  • There are hardly any extracurricular activities, but even if there is an event, the management is very poor and always fails to send the information to everyone.
  • Preference is given to 9-pointers, which is a really stupid rule, and the hostels arent really affordable as well.
  • Some hostel blocks should have room changes, which are the only negative comment about VIT college.

Placement Experience:

After completing 5 or 6 sem you will be eligible for placements. Only if you have "0" backlogs. The highest package is 97lakhs per year and the average would be 7-12 lpa. Almost everyone gets placed in the placement if they have studied anything in the 6 sems. If not VIT is not responsible. I am going to try the campus interview for better job opportunities.

Remarks:

The eligibility is to score 70% in your 12 grade. The application process is 100% online the portal for admission is VITEEE. You have to pay the entrance fee and write the exam. After the exam ranking will be provided. The fees are directly proportional to the ranking. If the rank is 1000 your fee will be around 172000-232000 If you are ranked above 50000 your fee will be >300000. For the past two, our college provides a sports quota for those who have achievements in sports at the state level and national levels (lemon in the spoon is not a sport).

Placement Experience:

From semester 7 we can sit for placements and varieties of companies come to select people like amazon Flipkart TVs etc Most of them get placed in VIT but not everyone gets the best package I plan on doing Masters and then getting work somewhere abroad.

Remarks:

Need at least 60 percent in 12th Board to apply for Vit Vellore, there are different categories and according to the VITEEE exam, you can get placed into the required category based on the marks. Application forms and other materials can be found on the vit website. They are been done properly and I don't see any changes required

Course Curriculum Overview:

VIT follows a fully flexible credit system that allows students to select their faculty from the University for their subject. The curriculum was also well defined in the beginning and the student ratio maintained max 60 students in one class.

Remarks:

As I have studied in a rural government school and scored 1st in the Tamilnadu district of Thiruvarur, VIT Connected me through my school and offered free education including a Hostel facility. Counselling took place and I selected the desired department as per my mark
