Maharashtra Animal and Fishery Sciences University (MAFSU) offers Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) program to its students under the Faculty of Veterinary & Animal Sciences every year.

The university offers the program for a duration of 3 years. To be eligible for the same, one must possess a degree in M.V.Sc. 

Admission is done on the basis of the candidate's performance in the entrance test and interview. Candidates can register themselves for the Ph.D. program by submitting the application form available on the university’s official website.

The application form must be submitted along with the processing fee of INR. 600/- and INR. 300/- (in case of SC/ST/OBC).

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must possess an M.V.Sc degree with a minimum of 7.00 and 6.50 CGPA in a 10.00 point scale for Open and Reserved Category respectively.

Admission Process

The candidate securing minimum 50% marks for Open category and 40% marks for Reserved Category, in Entrance Test & interview taken together will be eligible for admission to the Ph.D. degree program

How to Apply?

  • Candidates must fill the application form available on the university’s official website.
  • Enter all the mandatory details and upload the documents, photograph, and signature.
  • Candidates should click on the “Submit” button
  • Candidates must submit the application fee INR. 600/- (INR. 300/- in case of SC/ST/OBC)
  • The application fee must be submitted online via Net Banking or Credit/Debit Card.
  • Candidates (including reserved & unreserved) hailing from states other than Maharashtra must pay an application fee of INR. 600/-

Candidates must submit completed applications along with the following self-attested documents:

  1. SSLC,HSE mark statement
  2. U.G./P.G. Degree Marks statement /Grade certificates/ Provisional Certificate
  3. Community certificate obtained from Tahsildar concerned otherwise it will not be taken into account.
  4. Income Certificate obtained 3 months prior to the date of advertisement (for SC/ST/Blind candidates only)
  5. Certificate of Physically Challenged / Leprosy cured if anyone has.
  6. Sports Certificate.
  7. Ex-Servicemen Certificate
  8. +2 marks statement (compulsory)
  9. Two self-addressed stamped (Rs.10/-) envelope
  10. SC/ST candidates are exempted from the payment of Registration Fee for only one course.
  11. Two recent passport size photographs.
  12. Bonafide Certificate in case of the candidate admitted by ICAR quota
  13. Migration Certificate (if applicable)
  14. Domicile Certificate / Residential Certificate
  15. Caste Certificate (if applicable)
  16. Caste Validity Certificate issued by the Competent Authority

FAQs

Ques. What is the student intake for a Phd program at MAFSU?

Ans. The intake capacity for the PhD course is as follows:

  • 62 seats are allotted to Indian origin students
  • 10 seats are allotted to NRI students.

Ques. Is attendance mandatory for a PhD program at MAFSU?

Ans. Minimum 75% attendance is required and failing to keep that up, the student will not be allowed to write any examination.

Ques. Is transfer of courses at MAFSU allowed?

Ans. No, transfer of course at MAFSU is not allowed. Once a candidate is admitted to a course, he/ she cannot change its course work.

Ques. Is a break in study allowed at MAFSU?

Ans. Yes, a break of study is allowed only under the following conditions:

  • Candidates shall be allowed to take a break in studies only after successful completion of courses of first two semesters registered by him/her. 
  • The candidate shall have to apply for break in studies on valid reasons to the Registrar through concerned college along with the recommendation of the Dean/Associate Dean. 
  • Candidate shall be allowed a maximum break of three years once only during his/her Doctorate degree course. However, the student has to complete the degree programme in maximum period as prescribed in the regulation and if the course curriculum is in vogue at that time.
