B.Com (H) from St. Xavier's College, Kolkata

If you are getting the morning section, choose St. Xaviers. The institute has an amazing commerce department. It is one of the top commerce colleges in the country. The faculties and infrastructure are excellent. There are tonnes of extra-curricular activities to pick from.

The department has a good placement record. Each year around 90% of students get placed through the campus drive.

One of my friends studied at Xavier’s College, Kolkata. According to him, it is definitely one of the top commerce colleges in India. He even claimed that it was much better than the other two mentioned.

Here are some pointers which will help you know about this college a bit more:

  • If you get admission here, make sure to get a morning slot. It is better than the evening one.
  • Faculty, infrastructure, and extra-curricular facilities are all well developed.
  • 75% attendance is compulsory. The college begins at 6 am, which you will get used to.
  • There is also a boys and girls hostel available if you are an outstation student. Also, PGs are available too.
  • The college’s fest, Xavotsav is known throughout India and is comparable to many top-ranked college fests like those of IIT, IIMs, etc.
  • The college houses an in-house bank for your fee payments.
  • At the central library, you can borrow a variety of books or choose to study there in the reading room.
  • The college also boasts some really good alumni along the lines of Sanjiv Goenka, R S Agarwal, Amit Trivedi, and many others.
