There is no fixed cut-off that can be considered a benchmark. Depending upon the 12th standard marks obtained by the students in that year, it changes more or less every year. Generally, the higher-ranked colleges get higher cut-offs. Anna University constituent colleges such as CEG and MIT always have higher cut-offs compared to PSG and so on.

The table below will give the TNEA 2020 counseling cut-offs for the Other Backward Class (OBC), Most Backward Class (MBC), and Backward Class Muslims (BCM) of some common and popular engineering branches

Courses

PSG Coimbatore

CEG Chennai

MIT Chennai

Electronics & Communication Engineering

442-1431 (OBC)

193-1328 (OBC)

844-2180 (OBC)

534-4379 (MBC)

235-3149 (MBC)

1081-4872 (MBC)

1801-3874 (BCM)

254-1615 (BCM)

1383-4689 (BCM)

Computer Science and Engineering

556-937 (OBC)

92-642 (OBC)

950-1299 (OBC)

683-3804 (MBC)

215-1415 (MBC)

1617-2234 (MBC)

2891-2979 (BCM)

118-1078 (BCM)

3140-3237 (BCM)

Information Technology

1768-2627 (OBC)

1080-1764 (OBC)

1984-2490 (OBC)

3884-5171 (MBC)

1282-3342 (MBC)

2512-4974 (MBC)

4521-5469 (BCM)

1877-2991 (BCM)

3331-3913 (BCM)

Mechanical Engineering

1314-7083 (OBC)

1145-1795 (OBC)

2190-2682 (OBC)

1526-8953 (MBC)

1592-3865 (MBC)

3098-5232 (MBC)

3708-7420 (BCM)

1788-2667 (BCM)

5818-6184 (BCM)

Cut-offs are dependent on the popularity of the courses and the branches. Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Electronics and Communications Engineering (ECE), Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) also demand higher cut-offs than other branches in the same college.
