You need to have a higher rank if you want a decent NIT and a good branch. Here is an estimated list of cutoffs for a few reputed NITs.

Institute	Estimated Cutoff (General category)
NIT Warangal	1000 - 7000
NIT Trichy	500 - 5000
NIT Surathkal	300-5000
NIT Jaipur	1200-8000
NIT Allahabad	500-10000

These are approximate opening and closing ranks and the cutoff for these institutes varies each year.

This depends on which category you belong to, because the score will vary. But it is usually 85-90 for general category students.
