The stream in which you wish to make your career is more relevant than knowing about the college that you choose, as the chief problem is the stream that you choose.
As per the listed choices, it would be better to choose Computer Science from Silicon BBS over Chemical at IGIT. The reason is that the faculty of IGIT Chemical engineering is not very impressive. Most of the teachers there are recent graduates recruited due to a lack of qualified faculties.
As the campus of IGIT is isolated from the town, very few companies visit there for the campus whereas, Silicon has a location advantage. It is more like a school as it has strict attendance rules. However, their placement record definitely makes up for it.
If you are considering a career in Chemical Engineering and are confused between MNNIT Allahabad and RGIPT, it's important to understand the difference in the placement and research opportunities in both institutions. Here is a detailed answer to help you make an informed decision:
Placement Opportunities:
Research Opportunities:
Both MNNIT Allahabad and RGIPT have their pros and cons. If you are looking for a good placement record and a wider range of branches to choose from, MNNIT Allahabad might be a good choice. However, if research is your primary focus and you are interested in Petroleum and Chemical Engineering, RGIPT could be a better choice for you.
NIT Rourkela now is the country's second-best NIT. It is well equipped with great laboratory facilities. NIT Durgapur is behind Rourkela's facilities and infrastructure.
Now to biotech versus chemistry. Biotech is a new area and currently evolving. You will have good research and higher education opportunities if you study in this area. You can do a lot of research in this area. As far as investment is concerned, it is much less important because there is less core business.

It's a strong branch when it comes to chemical engineering. It is also a strong area if you are involved in science or higher research. More industrial than biotech is applicable in this area. Statistics are higher than biotech during the placement process. Like many good recruiting firms around the world. There are Govt employees, too. The most Maharatna companies in this sector, big government companies like IOCL, HPCL are some of the popular ones.
Biotech is the best for you if you want to study and investigate. Many explorable areas. NIT Rourkela offers the best biotechnology laboratory facilities. For biotechnology, this is the best NIT. It's not successful placing-wise. Key firms are much lower, only non-core firms must be reliant. It's fine MoUs for Nit Rourkela. Too fine faculty. You are highly trained and experienced. If you maintain a good CGPA, you can also have good international internships.
IIIT Naya Raipur CSE is a better option, in terms of placements. According to the recent placement highlights, the highest and average CTC for the branch is INR 10.5 LPA and INR 43 LPA, respectively. The placement rate for CSE is around 100%. Microsoft, Deloitte, Adobe, American Express, Ericsson, Capgemini, etc. visit IIIT Naya Raipur placements.
Heritage Institute of Technology (HIT) is a very popular engineering institute and if you are interested in pursuing Chemical engineering then you should definitely take admission in this college.
Categories | Chemical Engineering at HIT | CSE at Techno India |
Course Fee | 3.95 lakh | 6.32 lakh |

Average CTC | 5-6 LPA | 7-8 LPA |

Hence, both the colleges are very good with excellent placements and academics and it completely depends on your interests in which branch you would like to study and build your career.
Choose what interests you. If you are interested in Chemical Engineering, BITS Pilani is a great option. It offers decent academics and exposure. Core Chemical companies and oil companies recruit from the institute. Schlumberger, ONGC, Reliance, etc. are among the major recruiters for the branch. BITS Pilani placement highlights show the average CTC to be around INR 12 LPA for Chemical Engineering.
But if you are interested in Mechanical Engineering, you should choose PEC Chandigarh.
You should have a clear idea of what you are going to pursue after the four years. This way you can focus on a particular college accordingly for your undergraduate degree.
The only disadvantage that NIT Calicut has is the weak alumni network due to the newly formed campus as compared to GEC Thrissur.
Along with the placements, the brand name of NIT when added to your resume can help you immensely for your future professional life. So think twice and consider all the factors before taking final admissions.
All the mentioned NITs are among the top engineering institutes in the country. Out of all the NITs in India, the best choice is NIT Rourkela. As some of my friends studied there I might be able to give you some reasons. These are:
The fee and chemical branch placement details are as follows.
Categories | Chemical at NIT Rourkela |
Fee | INR 8.22 Lakhs |
Minimum Package | INR 3.6 LPA |
Average Package | INR 6.58 LPA |
Highest Package | INR 22 LPA |
The top recruiters include L&T, Reliance, Tata, P&G, Parle, ACC Cement, Aditya Birla, IOCL, PGCIL, NTPC, GMR Energy, GlaxoSmithKline, and more.
Overall, NIT Rourkela is an excellent choice. After CSE and EC branches, the Chemical branch recorded the highest placements. The return on investment of college is decent. But you should opt for it only if you can deal with and function under strict regulations and laws.
Chemical Engineering at BITS Pilani offers amazing placements in other fields such as IT/CSE/ETC and others. But one of my friends studying chemical engineering there said he is quite uncertain about it.
Top-notch leading electronics companies such as Intel have their base in the USA with 40% of its engineers as chemical engineers. Intel in India does not have a lab in which chemical engineers work. They have desk work in India.
But if you pursue your higher studies and apply for a job in the USA then you might get selected in the USA.
Yes, chemical engineering at JNTU is good. If you are interested in chemical engineering, then it's the best place to pursue it.
Infrastructure: The Chemical Engineering branch started at the institute only a few years ago. It does not even have a specific departmental block. It shares the block of the Metallurgical department. CE also doesn't have their own labs. Students go to other departments to do their lab work.
Placements: The first batch of Chemical Engineering graduated in 2018 and it had good core placements. Companies like Vedanta, ITC recruit Chemical Engineering students. In recent years the average CTC offered at the institute is 9 LPA.
I will advise you to only opt for Chemical Engineering if you are interested. If a student needs only the tag and brand of JNTU then choosing a chemical branch will not be a good idea.
