What happens in the orientation programme in KIIT?

TS
Tanisha Sinha Posted On : August 31st, 2021
B.Tech from Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (2019)

The orientation programme in KIIT is lengthy and the students are made to sit for 2 hours while the faculties and the honorable founder address them. But there are many students who are highly enthusiastic about this day too.

There are three kinds of orientation programs held at KIIT University. These are:

  • Class Orientation: In this, the students are given a tour of their classrooms, made to fill necessary forms and an interactive session is witnessed between the teachers/mentors and the students.
  • Student Orientation: In this, all the students are required to gather in the auditorium for the speeches of honorable guests and respected faculty. The Vice-Chancellor and The Dean address the students as well.
  • Hostel Orientation: During this orientation, the students are handed out a list of rules to be obliged by them throughout their stay.

So these are the basic things I got to know from some of my friends studying at IIM Indore. The orientation could be interesting to some while it may feel hectic to others.

I'm confused. Which college should I go to: SRM, Manipal, or KIIT?

DB
Dhruv Banerjee Posted On : April 25th, 2022
SRM Institute of Science and Technology

Your preference order should be SRM>Manipal>KIIT. However, you should choose one of these institutes according to your preference and requirements. SRM and Manipal are quite expensive. But these institute offers an enviable campus experience.

On an overall scale, SRM main campus will be the best choice. SRM University placements 2021 had the highest CTC of INR 35 LPA.

Will KIIT refund my 65K (after counselling and taking a seat) If I don't wanna take admission?

AR
Ajinkya Rane Posted On : September 3rd, 2021
Studied B.Tech (CSE) at KIIT Bhubaneswar (2021)

Yes, you are supposed to obtain a refund in case you refrain from taking admission following the counseling.

Be that as it may, you possibly would not get the whole amount back. They will deduct the counseling fees. Which is around 6000. And you will get a reimbursement for the rest.

If you have decided you are not joining the institute, start the refund process as soon as possible. As you won’t get back your money after the reporting day. You can visit the campus to know more about the refund details.

I got admission letter but my PCM aggregate is less than 60% (overall more than 60). I am yet to submit my marksheet, Will KIIT cancel my candidature?

MS
Medha Sen Posted On : August 31st, 2021
B.Tech Mechanical Engineering & Painting and Paintings, Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) (2020)

According to the conversations I had with my friends from KIIT, the institute is not known for canceling anyone’s candidacy. Very few engineering institutes in the country reject candidates. It has been seen in some government colleges that a lot of students enter through the donation system.

Since you have already received the letter of admission, you can be assured that your admission has been all but confirmed. KIIT only looks for the total percentage, not the percentage in PCM. If your aggregate percentage is higher than 60% then your candidacy will not be canceled.

Is it compulsory to live in hostel at KIIT?

SP
Samrat Pradhan Posted On : September 13th, 2021
B.Tech from Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (2017)

There is no such compulsion to stay in the hostel at KIIT. It depends on the student’s choice if the student is a day boarder then they can travel by bus or their own transport. The bus service is free for KIITians. A KIIT student can avail the bus service anytime.

If the student is not a day boarder then they can definitely opt for the hostel because it gets hard to find a place in BBSR at a reasonable price. Hostel life in KIIT would be beneficial for the student because of group studies and nearby facilities which cannot be found in other places that easily.

Do companies offer PPOs or internships to third years at KIIT?

MS
Meera Sarkar Posted On : September 6th, 2021
B.Tech Computer Science, and Engineering, Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (2020)

One of my cousins graduated from KIIT. According to him, there are some things you should know about KIIT’s placement methods. Let me share some of them:

  • The companies will start surging in from your 6th semester as at the end of the 3rd year.
  • Most of them offer an internship to students which might later convert into a PPO, based on your performance during the internship.
  • Some companies like Mu Sigma, Reliance, ITC offer full time work, right from the start.
  • My cousin is currently in the 8th semester and she too did an internship.
  • Companies that offer internship cum PPO (Performance-based) are VMware, Amazon, Highradius, Lavelle network, Autodesk, Hindustan Unilever, Ericsson, Quikr, HP, HCL, etc.
  • Companies that offer full-time with mandatory internships are Deloitte, PWC, KPMG, Optum, Novartis, Incture, Odessa, Accenture, Wipro, Capgemini, Cognizant, IBM, etc.

If you get an internship in the 3rd year itself and you are enjoying working there, then you should give it your 100%. Many people don't get full-time offers and by the time their internship ends, it becomes the end of the placement season.

KIIT won't allow you to sit for any other companies once you get placed until and unless the package is 1.5 times more than your current package or if it is a premier company.

Do the students need to attend counselling at KIIT?

YG
Yasmeena Grover Posted On : March 29th, 2023
Studies Electrical Engineering at KIIT (2020)

No, students who are admitted to KIIT are required to attend counseling sessions but it is not hundred percent mandatory. These sessions are an important part of the admission process and are designed to provide students with information about the institute, its programs, and the campus culture.

During the counseling sessions, students will have the opportunity to interact with faculty members and counselors who will guide them in selecting the right program based on their interests and career aspirations. They will also be given information on the curriculum, course structure, and examination pattern of their respective programs. Additionally, students will be provided with information on the facilities available on campus, such as the library, laboratories, sports facilities, and other extracurricular activities.

Students need to attend the counseling sessions as it will help them make informed decisions about their education and career path. By attending the counseling sessions, students can clarify any doubts or queries they have about the admission process, the institute, or their chosen program.

Attending counseling sessions at KIIT is mandatory for all students who have been admitted to the institute. These sessions are designed to provide students with the information they need to make informed decisions about their education and career.
