World Bank Funds for the Upgradation Project of Jammu and Kashmir Colleges

Jammu and Kashmir is planning to upgrade their education infrastructure under the project funded by the World Bank. Only government colleges of Kashmir will be included in this project.

One college situated at Bijbehara in South Kashmir has the blue print ready with 12 additional classroom blocks and two common halls for assembly. The project at the government degree college has the budget of INR 10.31 Crore and handled by Jhelum Tawi Flood Recovery Project (JTFRP)

Completion of Ground Floor

As per the officials, the construction for the ground floor of the block has been finished. The slabs are laid for the first floor and will be completed soon. The new infrastructure will have sufficient classrooms for students and will have no issues regarding the compaction.

Project for the Students

The Jhelum Tawi Flood Recovery Project (JTFRP) world bank has taken the initiative to bring a change in student’s education. The project was proposed in the month of November 2019 and was expected to be accomplished in the time span of 18 months.

Due to Covid-19 situation and lockdown imposed, a lot of time has been wasted because the board did not issue any SOPs for operating the project. Work is now in progress and student’s issue will be minimized to an extent.

Students are ecstatic about the upgrade at government college and are looking forward to new spacious classrooms. They also added some problems faced in earlier times during an interview.

Government has eased the lockdown restrictions and the Kashmir Valley construction has resumed its course.
