Chatterjee stated, “Our decision remains the same. No plan to change that. If any decision has to be taken, it can only be taken by the chief minister.”
Chatterjee has officially announced on December 3, 2020, that the government has decided not to start regular classes for school students until the COVID 19 pandemic comes to an end.
The West Bengal government has previously stated that it would be a huge danger to expose students to the contagion and restricted the reopening of schools.
Recently, the WB Government has also announced that the syllabus will be reduced for school students in the secondary and plus-two level and permitted to conduct the class in online mode.

Gerry Arathoon, Chief Executive of CISCE stated in the letter that for the final preparation for the examination, the board is requesting the chief ministers of the state governments and Union territories to allow the schools to partially reopen from January 2021 for classes 10 and 12.
If the students were allowed to attend the class physically, the time will be used for doubt clearing sessions, practical work, project work, and SUPW work, Arathoon stated.
Reopening of schools would allow the students to meet their teachers directly and give them time to interact with them which will be extremely beneficial for the students, the CISCE board said.
