On Friday, April 30, 2021, the West Bengal Government has announced to promote all students of West Bengal Board Class 9th to 11th to next grade, and to commence the class 12th board exams as per schedule.
As per the announcement made by the West Bengal Higher Secondary Education Board, West Bengal Board Examination 2021 for class 9th to class 11th has now been canceled due to increasing cases of COVID-19 in the states.
Additionally, for West Bengal Board Class 12th Examination 2021, the board stated that exams will commence as per the schedule on the school ground from 12 noon to 13:15 pm, instead of external exam centers.
The council stated that "Because of the current pandemic situation and other reasons, the Council has decided to cancel the Annual Examination of Class X1-2021”.
“The head of the Institution is being requested to promote all candidates of Class XI to Class XII. The topics of the reduced syllabus of Class XI. which are related to the Higher Secondary Examination should be completed within the first quarter of Class XII " the council further added.
Keeping in mind the safety of students, the board further ordered that any form of social gatherings, cultural events, academic entertainments has now been prohibited in the state until the situation gets better.
However, for public use, the markets will be allowed to operate between the giving timings in the states; which are: from 7 am to 10 am in the morning slot, and 3 pm to 5 pm in the evening slot.
Activities related to elections, such as electoral counting processes and victory rallies will now be hosted under the guidance of Election Commission protocols.
To further prevent COVID-19 in West Bengal, the government has also kept services like medical shops, grocery stores, and home delivery services out of order's purview. As per senior official's statement, "The restrictions will be in place till the administration reviews the situation again".
Those who are seen violating orders and safety protocols released by the government will be further proceeded with the Disaster Management Act, 2005, along with Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code.
