West Bengal government has announced to promote students of classes 6 to 9 in the state without final year exams. West Bengal Board of Secondary Education will not hold any exams or evaluations for classes 6 to 9 this year.
However, WB Madhyamik Board may hold a mock test for Madhyamik in schools for appearing students.
Although, teachers will have to reconsider the entire syllabus of the previous class before beginning the next curriculum once the regular classes start.
Saugata Basu, General Secretary of West Bengal Government Teachers Association informed that students till class 8 will have enough time to study the topics omitted in the previous classes. Students won't end up leaving anything from the syllabus.

As per the media reports, Basu stated, “Class 9 students who will be promoted to Class 19, will have to complete the syllabus within a short time. How can these students revise the syllabus of Class 9? I will leave them with almost no time to study for Madhyamik. It will unnecessarily stress the students.”
Moreover, the state government has anyway taken the decision to decrease the board exams 2021 syllabus by over 30 to 35 percent in schools.

The decision was made by the expert panel constituted by the government to reduce the syllabus in the wake of the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic.
Besides, earlier in November, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has canceled the selection test for WB Board Exam 2021 due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
For classes 10, 12 students, the selection test remains canceled. Thus, students appearing for their Board Exams next year can directly apply for the Board exams to be held by West Bengal Boards.
