Uttarakhand Government has decided to reopen the Higher Educational Institutes on December 15, 2020. Colleges were closed in Uttarakhand for the past eight months since March 2020 to prevent the spread of COVID 19.
Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Trivendra Singh Rawat, chaired a meeting, and the decision to reopen colleges and universities was taken during the meeting.
The schools and colleges of Uttarakhand remained closed because of the nationwide lockdown which was implemented due to the widespread coronavirus.

The Higher educational institutes like colleges and universities at Uttarakhand will be reopened from December 15 and all the safety precautions and guidelines will be followed.
The chief secretary chaired a committee and submitted a report seeking permission to reopen the education institutions in Uttarakhand.
The cabinet agreed and out of 29 proposals submitted to the cabinet, 27 were approved. A presentation was also done during the cabinet meeting which discusses COVID 19 vaccination.
The presentation also discusses how to provide the vaccination to everyone at the same time once the vaccination is available in the state.

The cabinet has decided that 20 percent of the population of Uttarakhand will be vaccinated in the first phase. The 20 percent population includes people above 55 years of age and frontline workers who have a high risk of contracting an infection.
The schools in Uttarakhand were reopened on December 2, 2020, and all the safety precautions were followed. The attendance in schools remained low because of the risk of contracting an infection during the global pandemic.
The Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Health has permitted the state government to decide upon the reopening of schools in their respective states. Many states all over the country have decided not to reopen schools till December 31, 2020.
