Uttar Pradesh To Inaugurate 9 New Medical Colleges in July: Read More Here


July 05, 2021: Uttar Pradesh Government has declared the inauguration of nine new medical colleges in the state by Minister Narendra Modi in July 2021, on July 03, 2021, Saturday.

As per the official announcement made by the Medical Education Department, the medical colleges will be set up in UP state, in Deoria, Etah, Fatehpur, Ghazipur, Hardoi, Jaunpur, Mirzapur, Pratapgarh, and Siddharthnagar districts.

Referring to the decision, an official spokesperson stated that With the inauguration of Uttar Pradesh New Medical Colleges in July 2021, a new dimension to the state’s existing medical system will be added, which will also recruit medical students with full transparency.

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the new medical colleges simultaneously. It is for the first time in the history of UP that such a large number of medical colleges will be inaugurated simultaneously" the official further added.

The new medical college in the states will include over 450 faculty members, of which about 70 percent of staff will be recruited by the recruitment cell with full transparency in the recruitment process, the official added.

The official stated that since March 2017, over 36 medical colleges have been added in the Uttar Pradesh state in the time period when Yogi Adityanath took over as the chief minister.

Earlier, in March 2017, the state had over 12 medical colleges. In the meantime, the BJP government further announced that more medical colleges will be added to ensure people’s safety and medical needs in the state. 

“It is a belief of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath that every district should have a medical college. In the state with the highest population, there were only 12 medical colleges till 2017 and now the number under the present government has increased to 48 so far” the officials added.

Additionally, in order to boost the health care system of Uttar Pradesh state, the government is also planning on adding over 441 oxygen plants in the states, in which 131 oxygen plants are already under operation.

As of now, the Uttar Pradesh state has over 3,500 health substations, 1,475 PHCs, and 399 Urban PHCs, along with over 5,424 health and wellness centers for medical needs.
