Uttar Pradesh Schools Requests State Government to not Reopen Schools For Classes VI-VIII; Check Details Here


November 28, 2020: Uttar Pradesh Board Affiliated school principals have opposed the UP Government decision of reopening schools for Class 6th to 8th class from December 15, 2020. 

District Inspector of Schools (DIOS), Uttar Pradesh has received a considerable amount of requests and notices from the Uttar Pradesh Board Affiliated school stating that classes for 6th to 8th students should not begin from December 15, 2020. 

Principal KV, Jhalwa, Vijeyesh Pandey stated that schools are now open for students of higher classes, according to which students’ attendance in physical classes has been reported to be very low.

During this time, opening schools for lower classes is not a smart decision, because students of lower classes are not mature as higher class students. Additionally, no school reopening guidelines has been issued for lower classes, he further added. 

As per the reports sent by schools, classes for 10th and 12th students are already conducted in the schools, on which attendance has been reported to be very low. 

Coronavirus cases are still on the rise in states, and the school reopening decision of the government should be not imposed any time soon, the report further added.

DIOS RN Vishwakarma said, "Following the guidelines of Unlock 5.0, schools for classes 1oth to 12th has been opened, and teaching work is being done physically by teachers concerned for students coming in staggered batches".

He further added, "Principals of schools were also contacted to get the feedback for opening the school for students from classes 6th to 8th. Still, around 70% of the principals are of the opinion that schools should not open from December 15, 2020". 

Earlier in November, UP Board Secretary Divyakant Shukla had also issued a letter to the District Inspector of Schools (DIOS), Uttar Pradesh in order to ask for feedback regarding schools reopening in the states.

Keeping in mind the increasing cases of coronavirus pandemic in the states, the state government has received requests from various district-level schools. due to which, the school reopening decision of the government might not be imposed in December. 

Reports opposing the state government’s decision of school reopening have now been forwarded to the State Government. The final decision is yet to be made by the officials
