New Delhi: UPES Dehradun has proudly launched 2 new scholarships and freeships. Jyoti freeship is launched for students with economically weaker backgrounds and the Vijay scholarship has been launched with the mission of fulfilling the dreams of young sports enthusiasts.
UPES Dehradun is a multi-disciplinary university that has announced new sports scholarships and freeships for the academic year 2022-23. The announcement of 50 sports scholarships under Project Vijaya and 50 freeships for underprivileged students under Project Jyoti was made at an event held on the university campus amidst the presence of Chief Minister of Uttarakhand – Pushkar Singh Dhami and Sahdev Singh Pundir, MLA, Sahaspur.
Along with the presence of the Uttarakhand CM, the Vice Chancellor Dr Sunil Rai; Pro Vice-Chancellor Dr Ram Sharma; Registrar, Manish Madaan; Dr Gurvinder Virk, Dean, School of Engineering; Dr Vijay Singh, Dean, School of Law and Dr Nalin Mehta, Dean, School of Modern Media along with the academic and management teams of UPES have also attended the session.
The scholarships and freeships are applicable only to the tuition fee. The scholarship will range from 35 per cent to 100 percent. The eligibility will depend on the number of achievements and the national and international sports representation done by the candidate.
During the event, UPES Centre for Culture & Arts in collaboration with Indira Gandhi Centre for Culture and Arts and UPES Centre for Indian Knowledge was also launched. Apart from this, admission to UPES Dehradun has begun for the academic year 2022-2023. UPES Dehradun Launches New Scholarships and Freeships for Sports: Highlights
The two categories of freeships and scholarships launched by the university for the academic year 2022-2023 include the following:
Project Vijaya- The UPES Sports Scholarships
To develop a sports culture within the university, UPES has introduced scholarships for talented sports people. There will be a total of 50 seats allotted for the following sports- Cricket, Football, Athletics, Basketball, Volleyball, Table Tennis, Badminton, Shooting and Chess.
Apart from the academic eligibility, which depends on the number of achievements and international and national sports representation done by the candidates, the scholarship is also applicable if the student continues the sport as part of the UPES team.
Project Jyoti- The UPES Sports Freeships
UPES has launched freeships for providing an opportunity to students from economically weaker sections of society to continue with their higher education. The scholarship will be provided for both the tuition fee and hostel fee. There will be a total of 50 freeships in various UG and PG programs of UPES.
Besides the sports scholarships and freeships, UPES also offers 100 per cent merit scholarship, 50 percent of which is reserved for female students, and 33 per cent for Domicile Scholarship to students who are residents of Uttarakhand. A Digital Innovation Scholarship is funded by Meta to select students in all the undergraduate programs of the School of Modern Media.
