Uttar Pradesh State Government has cancelled the UP College Exams 2021 for all undergraduate and postgraduate courses. In accordance with the decision made by the state government, over 30 lakh students will now be promoted to their next grade without any examination, as the COVID-19 second wave batters the state.

As per latest updates from Uttar Pradesh State Government, the examinations for final year students of undergraduate, and postgraduate courses will be conducted as per the schedule. Students of first and second-year UG and PG programs will be promoted to the next grade.
The decision on promoting first and second-year UG and PG students of UP universities was taken in accordance with the recommendations, and suggestions submitted by the stakeholders.
UP Government Sets Promotion Scheme for UG, PG Students
The promotion of UG, PG first, and second-year Uttar Pradesh college students will be taken care of with the help of a roadmap prepared by a committee of 3 vice-chancellors. The promotion plan will follow the below guidelines:
- As per the plan submitted by the committee, the first-year students of the UG, and PG program will be promoted to the next grade, and the marks will be awarded to them based on merit.
- For second-year UG, and PG students of UP college, marks will be offered to them based on their performance in the first-year examination, and they will be promoted to the next grade accordingly.
The committee that prepared guidelines for promoting first and second-year students include Vice-Chancellor of Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj University, Kanpur along with Professor Vinay Pathak, Vice-Chancellor of Lucknow University.
Additionally, Professor Alok Kumar Rai, Vice-Chancellor of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University, Bareilly, and Professor Krishnapal Singh are also members of the committee.
The vice-chancellors of different universities and the controller of the examination are expected to hold a meeting with the expert committee in order to discuss the marking scheme for first and second-year students. The expert committee has offered colleges and universities to decide the examination format and pattern for last year’s UG and PG program.
