Uttar Pradesh Board has sought recommendation from the District Inspector of Schools (DIOS) in its decision to allot schools as examination centers. This is the first time that reports from DIOS will be considered in this regard.
According to the new examination center policy, schools, where irregularities were reported during the last examinations, would not be considered for being an examination center this year.

Irregularities include acts of violence or arson that occurred during the time of exams. Centers where answer scripts were written outside the examination centers, won’t be considered either.
A board official said, “This might be due to the fact that the environment in such centers is not considered conducive secure or appropriate for conducting examinations in 2021,”
Divyakant Shukla, Uttar Pradesh Board Secretary has sought a report from DIOS of each district on December 3, 2020, regarding the irregularities during exams in 2020. Shukla also asked for the center code and the name of the center in the reports that were to be sent by DIOS till December 15, 2020.

The reports from DIOS could play a key part in deciding if a school would be allowed to act as an exam center. Reportedly, this has not gone down well with schools and could lead to disputes at later stages.
Teacher Suresh Kumar Tripathi said that the UP Board had been conducting exams for decades and a well-established process to debar schools from acting as exam centers already existed.
He said that in such a situation, considering reports from DIOS could lead to irregularities in the process and halt the smooth flow of examinations.
