University Grants Commission (UGC) declared on December 24, to offer around 100 online courses for students from January Semester 2021 on the SWAYAM platform.
UGC has made an addition of 75 undergraduate courses and 46 non-engineering courses to its 2021 course list. Students who have enrolled in the Universities and affiliated colleges can apply for them as add on courses.

On December 24, UGC posted on its Twitter account that from January Semester 2021, students can apply for 78 UG & 46 PG Non-Engineering courses available on the Swayam Platform.
Earlier, UGC made several attempts to improve the credibility of online courses. This year, UGC increased the academic credit limit of online courses to 40%.
An official notification in this regard has been made available on the official website of UGC. This has been decided upon in tune with the recently issued National Education Policy 2020.
Candidates who have already enrolled in the university or affiliated colleges can transfer benefits from the course. These newly added courses are expected to benefit academic fraternity and working professionals.

The courses have been approved by the Dean Academic of the Department for transfer of credits and were sanctioned by the Academic Council.
On December 4, UGC also released a notice for extending the submission deadline to December 31 for admission into Online Distance Learning (ODL) courses offered in the affiliated universities and colleges.
The national body is planning to conduct its exam from May 8-9 2021 (tentative) which will be conducted by the National Testing Agency.The complete details of the courses list is now available on ugc.ac.in.
