University Grants Commission (UGC) has officially released a public notification on May 20, 2021, regarding the implementation of the Blended Mode of Teaching and Learning in the Higher Education Institutions (HEIs).

The notice states, at the 547th meeting, UGC had discussed the blended mode of teaching and learning. Accordingly, the commission had allowed higher education institutions to teach 60% of courses (apart from programs on the SWAYAM platform) through the offline mode and 40% in online mode from 2020-21 session.
However, as per the recent public notice of UGC, the Blended Mode of Teaching and Learning will offer 40% and more of the course syllabus through online platform, SWAYAM. Examinations for both offline (60%) and online (40%) courses will be conducted in physical mode, i.e, through the offline mode. The concepts of the Blended Mode of Teaching and Learning have been prepared by the UGC in consultation with an expert committee.
The examination process for the SWAYAM courses is usually conducted through the online mode, in which the scores obtained by the candidate through SWAYAM are transferred to the credit-based system. As of now, the universities can conduct examinations for both offline and online course in online mode.
