TS EAMCET 2020: Telangana Govt. Relaxes Exam Eligibility Criteria; Counselling Schedule Revised


Telangana State government has relaxed the eligibility criteria for the TS EAMCET exam on October 29, 2020, after the high court halted the second phase of the common entrance test.

As per the recent updates, the higher education department has issued an order that all students who have cleared intermediate exams are qualified in the TS EAMCET 2020 counselling.

According to the previous TS EAMCET notification, candidates with 45% (40 per cent in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) in the subjects specified in intermediate except for B.Pharmacy course were eligible for counselling.

The higher education department of the state has taken the decision as a one-time measure in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic.

“Authorities to permit such students to appear for counselling in respect of TS-Eamcet (admissions) – 2020 without insisting on the eligibility criteria for qualifying examination marks. This order applies only for this year i.e. 2020-21 as a special case and shall not be precedent in future, and shall not be applied from 2021-2022 onwards,” read the GO.

After this, The convenor of Telangana Eamcet (admissions), 2020, Navin Mittal revised the final phase of the admission schedule.

According to the revised schedule, candidates will be able to apply online for the counselling process, pay the processing fee and attend for certificate verification as per the relaxed qualifying criteria on October 31.

Certificate verification for already slot booked candidates in the final phase will be held on November 1.

The exam authorities have informed that candidates will be able to exercise their options from October 30 to November 2 and provisional allotment of seats will be declared on November 4. Candidates have to pay tuition fee and self-report through the website from November 4 to November 7.
