TN Polytechnic Courses 2022: Tamil Nadu Higher Education Department has decided to introduce new job-oriented polytechnic courses for girls in order to stop the decrease in the number of female enrollment in various polytechnic institutes in the states.
The Directorate of Technical Education, Tamil Nadu’s decision to introduce Diploma Courses for Girls was made after evaluating the enrollment data of female candidates in various polytechnic institutes in the Tamil Nadu States.
As per the data received, the senior official from the Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE) stated that about 11,063 girls have enrolled in polytechnic courses in the 2017-2018 session, while in the 2018 session, only 10,016 female candidates have enrolled for courses.
Furthermore, in 2019-2022 data, the number of female enrollment has further decreased to 7,495. For the 2021 session, only 5,326 girls have enrolled for diploma programs in polytechnic college.
After evaluating the date of the 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020 sessions, the DoTE has decided to take action against the backdrop of a decrease in the number of girls pursuing polytechnic courses.
Talking about the backdrop in female enrollment in Tamil Nadu Polytechnic Courses 2021, the official said, “To improve the admission rate of female students for diploma courses, we have decided to introduce six job-oriented courses for female students".
DoTE’s new Polytechnic Courses 2021 for female candidates will cover interior decoration, office management, and computer applications, web design, biomedical electronics, and ECG domains. The courses will be offered in various polytechnic institutes across Tamil Nadu states.
For the course curriculum preparation for new courses, the education department has formed a committee of professionals, polytechnic college faculty members, as well as practicing professionals (industry experts) of various fields.
“The panel will plan the curriculum and syllabi for the new courses based on the inputs of industry experts to enhance the employability of the diploma holders,” the officials stated.
