TN Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami lays Foundation for New Veterinary College and Research Centre in Theni District, Read Details Here


Edappadi K Palaniswami, Chief Minister has laid the foundation stone for a veterinary college-cum-research centre at Veerapandi village in Theni district via video conference on December 10, 2020, Thursday.

As per the official press release published, the newly set up veterinary college and research centre would come up on 253.64-acre land at a cost of INR 265.87 crore for the medical requirements of cattle in Madurai, Dindigul, Virudhunagar, and Theni districts.

Additionally, since the college borders Kerala state, the veterinary college would also get great opportunities for marketing dairy products. 

The institution would comprise 15 departments, modern lab facilities, along with dairy and meat processing units. Forty students will be enrolled in the upcoming academic session.

Apart from this, the Chief Minister also launched the distribution of bicycles free of cost to students of class 11.

According to the official date, this year, bicycles will be distributed, for INR 214.79 crore to total 5,45,166 students - 2,38,456 boys and 3,06,710 girls.

Furthermore, nine students received bicycles from Palaniswami at the secretariat on Thursday.

School Education Minister KA Sengottaiyan, Adi Dravida Welfare Minister VM Rajalakshmi, Backward Classes Development Minister S Valarmathi, Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam, and other senior officials joined the event.
