TN Board Exams 2021: Tamil Nadu School Education Minister K A Sengottaiyan declared that TN board exams for class 10, 11 and 12 will be conducted for the academic year 2020-21. At the same time, the state government is to reopen TN schools for classes 10 and 12 after Pongal, i.e from January 19.
However, the teachers and schools are not prepared for the TN Board Exams 2021 as they believe 100 working days are to be needed to prepare the students well, revise lessons, clear doubts, and conduct tests.
TN Board Exams will be conducted in the month of March 2021. Previously, the state declared that 2020-21 will be considered as "zero academic year" with no academic activities and classes. The reason behind this is the ongoing pandemic situation. On the other hand, CBSE board exams for classes 10 and 12 will commence from May 4, 2021.

The state schools and teachers said that the TN board exams 2021 should begin by the end of May 2021, if the school education department agrees.
After conducting the half-yearly exams, many private schools reported that the performance of students has dropped in comparison to last year. A lot of students have gone through psychological pressure as well, so the schools demand one month's time to come out of it and complete the remaining portions.
Headmistress of Chennai Girls Higher Secondary School in Saidapet, Padmaja R said, “It will take one week for students to get used to the school atmosphere after the reopening.”

Some of the teachers are also concerned about students' safety amid COVID-19. They also said that staying for more than 3 hours in schools means that toilets will be used, the state government should ensure proper sanitization in all private and government-aided schools.
Tamil Nadu schools also confessed that since the syllabus is reduced by 50%, they just need 100 working days to prepare well and the TN board exams should be pushed to the end of May or the first week of June 2021.

The State was in a dilemma to declare a complete holiday for this academic year in view of the pandemic situation. However, the School Education Minister has confirmed that the government will be conducting TN board exams for class 10, 11 and 12 next year and is to release the exam schedule shortly.
Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank has already declared that the timetable for the CBSE class 10 and 12 will be released on December 31. Similarly, the state government will be planning the TN board exams 2021 schedule on the basis of CBSE schedule as well the NEET 2021 and JEE 2021 schedule.
