Tamil Nadu Schools to Reopen for Classes 10 and 12 from January 19, Read Details Here


On January 12, Tamil Nadu Government announced the Tamil Nadu schools reopening decision for Classes of 10 and 12. The schools will reopen from January 19, 2021 following all the safety protocols.

Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami issued a statement saying that there will be only 25 students in each classroom maintaining social distancing norms. He also assured that the health department will provide vitamin and zinc tablets to boost the immunity power of students.

The state government took the decision after following the feedback from parents, during the meetings conducted at Tamil Nadu schools. The majority of the parents agreed with the decision of Tamil Nadu schools reopening before the academic year ends in March.

Tamil Nadu schools remained closed since the last week of March 2020 due to this COVID-19 pandemic. Only the TN board exams were conducted in March but the other students were promoted to the next class. Earlier the government had also planned to Tamil Nadu schools reopening on November 16. But the decision was put off as parents opposed the idea concerning the second wave of Covid-19.

Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami informed that the number of Covid-19 cases in the state has been steadily decreasing in recent weeks.

On Monday 60,314 samples were taken for Covid 19 tests, out of the 201 people were tested positive in Chennai with a total of 680 cases in Tamil Nadu. The state has been conducting tests about 60,000 samples daily.
