Tamil Nadu Colleges Reopening: Colleges in Tamil Nadu reopens after 8 months of shut down due to the imposed lockdown owing to the pandemic circumstances. The Tamil Nadu Government has permitted the colleges to reopen for only Post Graduate and Research Scholar students.
As per the reports, all Tamil Nadu colleges have experienced minimal attendance on the first day of college reopening. The colleges reopened on December 02 as instructed by the state government for professional colleges, and arts & science colleges across the state after a break of nearly seven months.

According to the statistics of the ongoing pandemic, the situation is still crucial and the state has instructed the higher education institutions and Tamil Nadu colleges to follow all the precautionary measures and protocols while reopening it for students.
Colleges must conduct thermal scanning of students before allowing them to enter the campuses and there should be proper sanitization facilities all around the campuses.

Though the Tamil Nadu colleges reopened after a long gap, several students preferred to stay back at home owing to the COVID-19 panic in the state. In Chennai, several students who hail from the city reported back to colleges, while students who belonged to remote areas were not able to report to the colleges because of the inadequate transportation.
Several parents have also raised their concerns about sending their children back to college considering the poor transportation facilities and serious pandemic circumstances. In continuation of the reopening on December 02, colleges are deciding to have their online semester exams from the second week of December.
