Syllabus for Classes I to XII to be Cut Down to 25% Amidst COVID-19 Pandemic, Declares State School Education Minister


According to an announcement made by the Maharashtra Ministry of Education, the syllabus of Classes I - XII has been reduced by 25% for the academic year 2021-22 as an action plan during the current COVID-19 situation in the state.

Varsha Gaikwad, Maharashtra School Education Minister wrote in a tweet from her official Twitter handle,“Based on deliberations arranged with various stakeholders and in view of the prevailing health emergency caused by the COVID pandemic, we have decided to reduce the syllabus for Classes I to XII for the academic year 2021-22, by 25 percent like last year."

The minister also said that the new announcement has been finalised after numerous discussions & meetings with the stakeholders. The measure has been taken due to the reduced time available for organising classes and helping students to achieve the learning objectives in a less stressful way. Details about the lessons omitted from the syllabus will also be notified soon, Gaikwad added.

Due to the loss of teaching hours due to the COVID pandemic, the state education ministry had reduced the syllabus for Class I to XII by 25% last year and the same has been announced for the academic year 2021-22.

Earlier, the Maharashtra State Board Class 10 & 12 exams 2021 were cancelled due to the surge of COVID-19 cases in the country. Later on July 17, 2021 SSC Class 10 results for 2021 were announced and the pass percentage this year was 99.95%. 

Maharashtra Board SSC result 2021 was prepared on the basis of evaluation criteria as per which marks of both Class 9 and 10 were given 50 percent weightage. Marks in the final results of Class 9 will be noted, while for class 10 marks; 30 marks will be for the internal assessment and 20 marks for practical/homework/assignments.
