St Xavier’s Kolkata to Upgrade all UG Departments to PG Studies as part of ‘Vision 2025’ Roadmap

New Delhi: St Xavier’s College (Autonomous) is now working on upgrading all its undergraduate departments to postgraduate studies in the coming three years under its Vision 2025 Roadmap. 

As per the statement made by Principal Father Dominic Savio during the 15th Convocation of St Xavier’s College, the university aims to improve its overall departments and offer students better education facilities on the campus ground.

Under the Vision 2025 roadmap of the college, students will be provided with an opportunity to apply for St Xavier’s College Ph.D. Program in Bengali as well as in English languages. The option will be available with the commencement of doctoral studies in all the departments. 

While talking about the upgrades, Principal Father Dominic Savio said, "This is the third campus of the college, after its Kolkata campus and Raghabpur rural campus in South 24-Parganas district housing a state of the art hub".

"It will house the Mass Communication and Multimedia department, the community radio station, a modern incubation center for facilitating startups, and modern research facilities for Science PG departments" he further added. 

In addition to the upgrades in departments, the college will also start the construction work of its new colleges near EM Bypass. The work will start in the next three years as part of St Xavier’s College's Vision 2025. 

The college will further launch its own ‘School for Gender Studies’ at Raghabpur. The aim behind the various initiatives is to offer equal educational opportunities to all students. 

Referring to Vision 2025, the Principal stated that the college's main goal behind the launch of School for Gender Studies is to empower girl students with knowledge and self-confidence. The school will also create awareness with regard to gender equality, he added. 

Adding to the statement, he said “The center also has a plan to start with peer-reviewed journals on the subject both in English and Bengali with ISSN numbers”.

Other initiatives of the college include the expansion plan of the rural campus at Raghabpur, the addition of various new PG courses in the course curriculum, and the inauguration of the Skill Development center at the Raghabpur Campus of the college.
