According to latest updates, select UP board schools in Prayagraj would be provided with sports facilities to encourage spotting abilities among the student population. This initiative by the state government is being done under the Prayagraj Smart City Project.
A number of badminton courts, tennis courts, cricket nets, and volleyball courts will be developed in certain schools. Speaking about the smart city project, SK Sinha, the project manager said that an amount of INR 4.88 crores will be used for this project.

He further added that tenders for the same have been released by the authorities and new sporting facilities will be made in the next 5 to 6 months.
Sinha stated, “Now, children studying in government schools will also be seen playing volleyball, tennis, badminton, cricket, and kabaddi on their school grounds. Our officials had surveyed the campus of schools and colleges before selecting seven schools”
To start off this project, meetings between the authorities and principals of the schools with adequate space were conducted. Education officers also took part in these meetings. 7 schools in the city were selected for this purpose.
These 7 schools include CAV Inter College (MG Road), KP Girls Inter College, Government Inter College (boys), Colonelganj Inter College, Modern Primary School Elanganj, Hindu Mahila Inter College, and Mary Wanamaker Girls Inter College.

The official said that Colonelganj Inter College would be given one basketball court, two badminton courts, one volleyball court, and one kabaddi court. Similarly, GIC (boys) would be provided with one volleyball court, one basketball court, two badminton courts, eight cricket net practice areas, a kids play area, and two lawn courts.
The students of KP Girls Inter College would get a basketball court, a play area, and 2 badminton courts. On the other hand Modern Primary School, Elanganj would benefit from a kabaddi court and a basketball court.
CAV Inter College would have two badminton courts, a cricket net practice area, and two badminton courts. Hindu Women’s Inter College would be provided with a basketball court, a play area, and a badminton court.
Lastly, Mary Wanamaker Girls Inter College would get a volleyball court, two badminton courts, a basketball court, and a kids’ play area.
