January 4, 2021: Pune Municipal Corporation has allowed schools and colleges under its jurisdiction to reopen in states from January 04, 2021. Schools in states will reopen for students of classes 9th to 12th in accordance with safety guidelines, and SOPs.
Pune Municipal Corporation along with local authorities are directed to make sure that the school administration, teachers, and students all follow and adhere to the COVID-19 protocols.

Earlier, as per the state government’s directions, schools from class 9 to class 12 and colleges in the rural parts of Pune District had been reopened from November 23, 2020.
PMC has also directed schools to ensure that the Standard Operations Protocols (SOPs) are followed, which includes wearing masks, carrying sanitizer bottles, maintaining social distancing inside the school and college premises.
Additionally, schools are directed to record thermal readings of staff, and students before allowing them to enter the school premises. Necessary infrastructure and equipment required for COVID-19 guidelines are also mandatory.

PMC has made it mandatory for all the teachers as well as non-teaching staff to carry their RT-PCR reports on reopening Day 1. Moreover, the seating arrangements are done in a way that allows students to adhere to the social distancing norms.
Throughout India, schools have been taking their calls at reopening the institutions following the guidelines issued by the Union Health Ministry. In spite of the permission, some schools might not open due to the lack of arrangements as per the COVID-19 guidelines.
