As per the recent announcement made by Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, the Pune Universities and Colleges will now reopen for all students in the states from October 11, 2021. The reopening decision has been made in accordance with the COVID-19 safety guidelines.
After October 2021 first week's COVId-19 review meeting, Deputy CM Ajit Pawar has allowed Pune universities to start the commencement of on-campus classes for all students. Only those students who are fully vaccinated are permitted to attend the offline classes.

Students who are yet to take their vaccination dose will have to take classes by online means. The decision will be effected in all Colleges and Universities in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad of both rural and urban areas from October 11, 2021.
While talking about the decision, Deputy CM added, “The district’s weekly positivity COVID-19 rate has dipped to 3.01% with PMC registering 2.5%, PCMC at 2.3% and Pune rural at 3.6%. So, we have decided to reopen colleges with full precautions”.
In accordance with the reopening permit, the colleges and universities in Pune are requested to follow the safety guidelines and strict rules throughout the class commencement. Rules and safety conditions have also been imposed for those who wish to come to campus.

Referring to the decision, Deputy CM Ajit Pawar stated that Pune Colleges and Universities have been permitted to reopen their campus for students. The campus will be reopened only if colleges will permit only the "fully vaccinated students" to attend the offline classes on campus.
Along with the vaccination rule for students, the CM has also reviewed several rules in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19 during the class commencement. One of the rules states that students are required to have a mandatory negative RT-PCR report to attend classes.
Additionally, only those students who meet the criteria for class commencement in Pune colleges and universities will be permitted to enter the campus ground. The restrictions have been added in order to ensure the safety of students.
Deputy CM Ajit Pawar said, “All these institutions have to follow strict Covid-19 protocols. Students who have taken a single jab will not be allowed, and those arriving in Pune to attend college will have to show a negative RT-PCR test before entering the campus".
