The Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) has officially announced to conduct PSEB Board Exam 2021-22 in two terms for Classes 5, 8, 10, and 12.
According to the announcement, PSEB will conduct the term 1 exams in November-December 2021 for main subjects only. In addition, the term 2 exams will be held in February-March 2022.
The question papers for both the terms will be prepared by the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB). Final results of students will also be evaluated by PSEB based on the students' performance in term 1 and 2 exams.
As reports claim, PSEB took the decision of conducting board exams in two terms for Classes 5, 8, 10, and 12, as it had cancelled the exams last year and results were declared according to the alternative evaluation criteria.
For the unversed, last year PSEB had reduced 30% of the syllabus for classes 10 and 12. PSEB 12th results were declared in July 2021, based on a 30:30:40 formula. This included Class 10, 11 and 12 marks for the criteria.
Following which in May 2021, the results of classes 8 and 10 were declared on the basis of continuous comprehensive evaluation.
PSEB Board Exam 2021: Term-Wise Exam Pattern Explained
According to media reports, the PSEB term-1 written exams will consist of multiple choice questions (MCQs) and students will have to mark their answers in the OMR sheet. Questions for the same will be sent by the board.
PSEB term-1 exams will be conducted for main subjects only and there will be no exams for grading subjects and the board will not conduct the practical exams in term-1.
Similarly, the term-1 exams for special ability students of class 10th and 12th will be conducted at the school level and there will be no changes in the question paper pattern of such students. It will be the same as regular students’ question papers.
For now, PSEB has announced it will issue separate exam-day instructions for open school students and they can go through the PSEB official website to know the term-wise syllabus division and other exam guidelines.
Meanwhile, PSEB term- 2 exams will be conducted in February-March 2022. There will be short answer and long answer type questions asked in the term 1 exams. The board will send the term-2 question papers to the schools.
The board has divided the academic year into two terms with each covering 50% of the entire syllabus. Even the question paper will be framed according to the question bank that will be made available on the official PSEB website.
Speaking on this, PSEB Chairperson Yograj said, “The decision was taken in the wake of the third Covid-19 wave. In the first term, exams will be based on multiple-choice questions, while the second term exams will be subjective. The academic year is divided into two with each covering 50% of the syllabus.
The result will be declared according to the average of both terms. The exams for special students will be conducted in their schools only, while others will be allocated to different centres as used to be the norm earlier."
