PM Modi to Lay Foundation Stone of AIIMS Rishikesh Satellite Centre, Launch 23 New Projects; Check Details Here


New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of AIIMS Rishikesh Satellite centre in the district of Udham Singh Nagar and Jagjivan Ram Government Medical College at Pithoragarh. 

PM Narendra Modi will visit Haldwani, Uttarakhand today to lay the foundation stone of 23 upcoming projects worth approximately Rs. 17,500 crore, this is being done as an exercise to expand the medical infrastructure of the state and provide better medical facilities in different parts of India.

AIIMS Rishikesh is one of the institutes of national importance, established in 2021 for providing admission into medical courses. Admission into AIIMS Rishikesh is granted on the basis of the NEET entrance exam. 

Highlights of the Upcoming Projects Inaugurated by PM Modi in Uttarakhand: 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is supposed to inaugurate 23 projects among which 6 projects worth more than Rs. 3,400 crore, focus on various road widening work, the building of a hydropower facility in the district of Pithoragarh, 2 sewage network improvement work in Nainital. Here are the project details:

PM Modi is also to inaugurate the Meerut Sports University in Salwa village of Sardhana, Meerut on January 02, 2022. Earlier, this week, he attended the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur convocation as a Chief Guest.

In his speech, the PMO said that IIT Kanpur is a vibrant institution, which has made pioneering contributions towards science and innovation.

Addressing a gathering in the Haldwani area, PM Modi referred to these projects as a ‘New Year Gift’ for the district people. While referring to the capabilities of the district people, he stated these projects will strengthen the upcoming 10 years, the “decade of Uttarakhand”. The cost of these 17 projects will be worth more than Rs. 14,100 crore. 

The AIIMS Rishikesh Satellite Centre and Jagjivan Ram Government Medical College projects, to be established at Pithoragarh district, are worth Rs. 500 crore and Rs. 450 crore respectively. The AIIMS Rishikesh will be the second one in Rishikesh after the first one was established in 2012. The hospital is to be built to serve not only the people of the Kumaon and Terai regions but also the bordering other areas of Uttar Pradesh.

The Lakhwar project is worth Rs. 5750 crore. The project was already taken upon in 1976 only to remain stuck before PM Modi thought of prioritising these pending projects. This project of enormous importance is supposed to enable irrigation of approximately 34,000 hectares of land, produce 300 MW hydropower and supply clear drinking water to the states of Uttarakhand, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh.

In addition to these projects, Prime Modi is to lay the foundation stone for multiple road projects. The 85 kilometres long Moradabad- Kashipur Road is worth approximately Rs. 4000 crore, SH-5 project for the building of 2-lane road of 22-kilometre stretch connecting Gadarpur- Dineshpur- Madkota and Haldwani, construction of the 8-kilometre long Khatima bypass in Udham Singh Nagar and a 4 lane National Highway, known as NH109D, worth more than Rs. 175 crore.

The Prime Minister has applauded and welcomed these projects and referred to how these are to impact the overall economic growth of India enabling the country to claim a strong position in the global market.
