Odisha Reservation Policy: The Government of Odisha has decided to introduce quota seats in engineering and medical colleges for students passing out from state schools. Apart from this,the state also mandated the submission of property statements every year by all people's representatives and government servants.
On December 28, 2020 the State Parliamentary Affairs Minister A K Arukha proposed the introduction of Odisha reservation policy during the virtual cabinet meeting which was also attended by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

The proposal was approved by Naveen Patnaik for the sake of transparency all details are to be kept in Public Domain.
The purpose for this Odisha reservation policy is to boost the morale of students belonging from rural or backward classes. To uplift the standard of living in the rural areas, they need to educate the students there.

School and Mass Education Minister S R Dash explained that the Odisha reservation policy will be applicable from the next academic year for admission in engineering and medical colleges for students passing out from state-run schools only.
With this, there might be a chance to introduce digital courses and coaching centers in the rural areas as well. Students who have passed from Odisha Class 10th, with merit will also be able to avail this reservation irrespective of their economic background.
The cabinet has also sanctioned three months for preparing the modules for implementing the reservation under the chairmanship of a retired Orissa High Court judge. This will bring relief to rural class people, as the opportunity to secure a better future has been introduced by the government.
