Odisha Government to Appoint 2,000 More MBBS, BDS Students in New Medical Colleges, Hospitals; Details Here


January 20, 2021: Odisha Government has announced that 2000 MBBS and BDS students will be newly recruited for appointment in upcoming medical colleges and peripheral hospitals. 

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik made the decision to recruit 2000 more MBBS and BDS students through a video conference on January 19, 2021. During the conference, he added that nine medical colleges in the state will not have a shortage of doctors.

As per the decision, the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) has been directed to notify appointments of doctors in the states. Additionally, the commission is directed to complete projects in health sectors with the help of different departments. 

Odisha state has also launched a drive to develop SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack into a world-class health care centre. 

Earlier, Chief Secretary of the Health Department, Mr Mahapatra has stated that the Odisha Government will start the admission process for Shri Jagannath Medical Hospital for 1000 MBBS seats. 

Additionally, the Letter of Permission (LoP) has already been sent to the concerned authorities to start the Odisha MBBS Admission 2021. 

The Odisha Government has also constituted a six-member committee in order to make necessary changes for the reservation of seats in medical colleges in the state. This high power committee will make necessary recommendations for reservation for seats in various Government engineering and top Odisha medical colleges

Some of the profound members of the committee are; Professor Ashok Kumar, Former Vice-Chancellor, and Former Head of the Laser and Plasma Technology Division at BARC Doctor C.B.K, Mr B.S. Poonia, and Chairman of Council of Higher Education Odisha, Mr G Reghu.
