The Government of Odisha formed a committee to make recommendations about the reservation of Government state-run high schools students in engineering and medical courses on January 7, 2021.
On December 28, 2020, the State Cabinet meeting had proposed the reservation for all the students who passed from Government schools for admissions into various Engineering Colleges and Medical Colleges in Odisha.
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and chairperson of the cabinet approved the proposal during a meeting via video conferencing.
Odisha Govt Forms Committee for Implementing Reservation Policy
Dr Justice AK Mishra, a retired judge of Odisha High Court, will be the head of the committee. He was also the Director of Odisha Judicial Academy, Special Judge CBI, and Registrar General Odisha High Court as well.
School and Mass Education Minister S R Dash instructed that the Odisha reservation policy will be applied from the next academic year for the students who are passing out from state-run schools for admission into Engineering Colleges in Odisha as well as medical colleges.
With this, the committee may also introduce digital courses and coaching centers for the students of rural areas as well. Candidates who have passed from Odisha Class 10th, based on their merit can also avail this reservation irrespective of their economic background.

and Former Head of the Laser and Plasma Technology Division at BARC, Vice-Chairperson of Odisha State Higher Education Council - Member.

- BS Poonia, IAS, Chairman, Council of Higher Secondary Education, Odisha - Member,
- G Reghu, IAS, Director, Technical Education and Training, Odisha - Member.
- Dr. AK Nayak, OAS, Joint Secretary to Government, SD & TE Department - Member Convenor.
