The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) reported an immense growth of 2000% in the e-learning platform during the lockdown. Over 2.5 lakh learners have registered themselves on the e-skill India portal.
NSDC inaugurated eSkill India, the multilingual e-learning aggregator portal, to provide online skilling opportunities in 2019. At present, the portal has over 800 courses categorized and following 4,500 courses through associate channels.

NSDC Managing Director Manish Kumar revealed that the number of Online Certificate courses is rising in India. He added further that NSDC and collaborators are working on providing more trained skills for jobs with popular programs on the e-skill India portal.
Presently, digital learning possesses a huge scope to help potential youth to earn more opportunities and resources. Traditional brick-and-mortar guiding prototypes will require development in the practical vocational programs.
Online skilling options can give vacancies across a spectrum of sectors and fields like healthcare, retail, e-commerce, and also life skills.

NSDC asserted that exciting online skills through the eSkill India portal are ensuring more candidates for e-learning courses. The courses are 75% free of cost besides the expenses of digital resources.
Current developments in technology have played a major role in allowing access to online learning. The combined learning models will motivate the youth to acquire tech-knowledge, teamwork skills, essential and creative thinking that will be vital for jobs in the future.
According to a statement by the World Bank, three kinds of skills are going to be significant and valuable in industries around the world. Those three skills are mentioned below :
- Advanced Cognitive Skills
- Socio-behavioral Skills
- Combination Skills of reasoning and self-sufficient
NSDC online courses are curated by IBM, TCS, Microsoft, LinkedIn, Apollo Medvarsity, UpGrad, and many more. Presently, approximately 16.8 lakh minutes of high-quality digital content is accessible across many sectors, involving agriculture, healthcare, telecommunication, retail, pharmaceutical, banking and finance, electronics, and information technology.
The popular course on the e-skill India portal is the IT-ITeS. This course consumes 29% of total enrollments. Electronic is on the second top of the list with 21% of the entire enrollments.
NSDC has developed a register of qualified students named Atma Nirbhar Skilled Employee Employer Mapping (ASEEM). In November 2020 approximately 10 lakh jobs had been offered through the ASEEM.
