Parents have demanded cancellation of NIOS 2021 Exam due to the lack of public transport in Mumbai. The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) is mulling over the grievance after receiving the complaint.
Parents from Mumbai are requesting the board to cancel the NIOS 2021 examinations scheduled this month. Melody Pereira, a parent, informed that they live in Andheri west and have to travel to their exam center in Mumbai Central.
“Due to the lack of proper public transport and their kids having low immunity, it is very risky for them to venture out in this crisis,” she further explained.
Parents have also raised their complaint about delays in receiving study materials, unavailability of writers, and no deduction of the syllabus, unlike other boards.
Anubha Sahai from the India Wide Parents Association wrote to NCPCR about the delay in delivering books. She said "some students in remote parts of the country are still waiting for reading material. This has affected the preparation of students"

She further added, "All other boards have also reduced the syllabus and postponed their exams for the month of May. The board must at least provide an option to appear for exams in an online format.”
Board officers assured that all the safety norms will be strictly followed. They have discussed with the regional head of Mumbai and they got the permission of conducting offline board exams from the local authorities.

An official suggested parents can be the writers of their children if they can not find anyone for them. The Board also alerted the exam centers in view of this situation. The board assured that it is very child friendly and inclusive and all the safety precautions are already in place.
Recently, the education department of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has permitted schools to conduct Board exams of Classes 10 and 12 in offline mode.
