NEP 2020: The Ministry of Education, Central Government has recently launched a new four-year integrated program in the field of teacher education for school teachers and educationists of the academic session 2021-2022.
As per the announcement made by the Ministry of Education, the four-year Integrated Teacher Education Program (ITEP) will be offered in line with National Education Policy, NEP 2020 in more than 45 educational institutes across the country.

Under the National Education Policy, NEP 2020, the Integrated Teacher Education Program 2021 program will be offered to interested applications as a dual major holistic bachelor’s degree, integrating basic BA and BSc degrees with the BEd program.
Referring to the initiative, Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said, "A major initiative in teacher education! 4 Year ITEP, a dual major holistic bachelor’s degree, offering B.A.B.Ed./B.Sc.B.Ed/B.Com.B.Ed. is launched by NCTE covering one of the major mandates of NEP 2020".
The four-year integrated course will be offered by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) under the Ministry of Education. Students or teachers who are interested in the course will have the option to apply for various specializations.

ITEP 2021 will be available for those students and teachers who wish to choose teaching as their profession. The course will not only benefit students in their field but will also offer practical applications of the course in real-life problems.
Through this course, the Integrated Teacher Education Program aims to offer early childhood care and education (ECCE), foundational literacy and numeracy (FLN), and inclusive education to interested applicants.
The official statement reads, "Admission for the course will be carried out by the National Testing Agency (NTA) through the National Common Entrance Test (NCET). This course will be offered by multidisciplinary institutions and will become the minimal degree qualification for school teachers".
